Carlton’s Sam Rowe will contest the Sun-Herald City to Surf as part of his comeback from testicular cancer.

Diagnosed in April this year, the 198cm forward was forced to undergo an operation and six weeks of chemotherapy - just five months into his first season at the Blues.

“My body is feeling really good at the moment and I am slowly starting to get my fitness back after a fair bit of time off,” Sam told CFC TV.

Currently in remission,  Sam’s return to the football field is well and truly on track with doctors expecting him to to resume full football training before the end of this year.

In search of a goal to increase his fitness before pre-season, Sam signed up to the City to Surf with no long distance running experience.

“I am a pretty shocking endurance athlete and although I have been training for one month the most I have run is about 11kms.”

Joining him in Sydney is injured defender Jeremy Laidler, who will act as his motivator and water-boy.

“I will be with him at the start and waiting for him when he crosses the finish line - however long it takes,” Jeremy said.

Keep an eye out on the Carlton website next week for news and videos of Jeremy and Sam’s trip to Sydney.
