An energised Sam Kerridge says he’s well prepared for his second pre-season at Carlton.
The 23-year-old finished 10th in the Blues' 2016 best and fairest, and said he would use his career-best season as a springboard to his sixth pre-season.
“I’ve well and truly worked out how I feel and how I need to prepare and recover and get myself up for the next session,” Kerridge told Carlton Media on Friday.
“I’ve spent a whole year here with the boys and everyone else around the club have been fantastic, so I’m really excited ... You obviously feel a bit more comfortable."
Since arriving at Ikon Park during last year’s trade period, Kerridge managed to sport the No.11 guernsey on 21 occasions.
In preparation for his second year in the navy blue, the midfielder said he was hoping to maximise his fitness during the off-season.
“I’ll try and do as many sessions as I can and stay as fit as I can,” he said.
“There’s a few little individual goals as well that I’ll try and tick along the way, and some team goals as well.”
Returning to the Club on Monday, Kerridge and his fellow senior teammates joined the baby Blues out on the track and according to the midfielder, the feeling amongst the group is “fantastic”.
“The boys are up and about, they’re buzzing,” he said.
“It’s been an exciting week and the boys are raring to go.”
Carlton will continue its 2017 pre-season campaign at Ikon Park before ramping up preparations at pre-season camp in the Gold Coast in December.
“It’s going to be pretty hot up there, so we’ll train pretty hard and try and sweat it out with each other,” Kerridge said on Friday.
“It’s a good team bonding opportunity.”
