THE Carlton Reserves have brought in even more experience with the addition of ex-GWS Giant Cooper Hamilton who has signed for 2025.

Hamilton spent three years on the Giants list, earning eight games at senior level while also playing 21 in the state league competition, showcasing his pace and agility as his main strengths.

A natural runner, Hamilton combines his speed with endurance, working defensively for his side while also demonstrates his talents in the air for his size.

Standing at 185cm, he defends with speed and tackles hard, while also being a player who can turn defence into offence as a give-and-go player.

His best performance at AFL level came in Round 1 of 2023, accumulating 19 disposals, a goal and a direct goal assist against West Coast.

He showed promise throughout his eight AFL games until a foot injury ruled him out for the rest of the 2023 season and the back half of the 2024 campaign: it was in that time he took on a new adventure, featuring in content pieces on their social media channels.

Hamilton now joins Ethan Phillips, Francis Evans and Cooper Vickery as signings the Reserves have made from AFL lists heading into 2025.

“Having been on an AFL list, Cooper brings with him great knowledge of not only high performance and training standards, but also the VFL competition,” VFL Senior Coach Luke Power said.

“Cooper has gone to work incredibly hard to get his body right leading into 2025, and we’re really excited about what he can do for us. We know how crucial tackle pressure and contest are for us as a team, and that’s what he’s all about.

“His ability to cover the ground will add to our offensive and defensive game: he’s fit in seamlessly so far with our team and we can’t wait to see him in action with our players on the field.

“Cooper isn’t an unfamiliar face at IKON Park: he has an existing family connection to Carlton with his brother Hugh, a much-loved player of our VFL team, that’s been a constant face around the Club.

“Despite his injuries, Cooper’s growth as a young talent across the past few seasons has been impressive, and we’re looking forward to seeing how he’ll contribute to the team in the upcoming season."
