Carlton’s Sam Rowe has completed the Sun-Herald City2Surf crossing the line in a time of 73 minutes and 43 seconds.

In cold and windy conditions the 196cm forward joined tens of thousands racegoers for the 14km run from Sydney’s CBD to Bondi Beach.

“I felt pretty good when I started out, but heartbreak hill nearly got the better of me,” he said.

“I was pretty happy with the time, it would have been great to go under the 70 minute mark but considering I had only been training for a month and have never run that distance before I was pretty pleased.”

Injured defender Jeremy Laidler was Sam’s travel partner and has been documenting their trip for CFC TV, which can be viewed on the Carlton website later this week.
