Carlton will run out for its season opening VFLW game against the Casey Demon at Casey Fields tomorrow at 11.30am.
The Blues come into this game fresh off a bye in Round 1, while Casey returns home on the back of a thrilling three-point win against Essendon at Windy Hill.
You can tune into the game via a live-stream on the VFL website.
Last time they met:
With a final score of 5.7 (37) to 3.9 (27), Casey defeated Carlton in what was an inaccurate day in front of goal for the Blues.
AFLW midfielder Georgia Gee was named best-on-ground by her coaches with a solid performance that included an opportunistic goal.
She was complemented by AFLW defender Gab Pound, who was also named in the best.
Player to watch: Sarah Wright
Sarah Wright will be one to watch this weekend in her first outing in the Navy Blue, where she’s been selected at centre half forward. Wright joined Carlton from the NFNL, where she took out the Division 1 Best & Fairest representing Keilor.
Welcome to the Blues!

If you think you’re seeing two of her out there, you’d be easily mistaken.
You will also see her twin Gemma Wright debuting as well: however, she’ll line up at the other end of the centre square, having been selected at centre half back.
Opposition to watch: Eden Zanker
Casey ruck-forward Zanker was the match-winner for Casey last time these two sides met, kicking three of her team’s five goals.
In her first VFLW hitout for 2019, she was named best-on-ground by her coaches in Casey’s three-point win over Essendon.
Shannon’s say:
“We’ve had a lot of changes to our VFL list, but with that we have a lot of younger players coming into our side making for a good mix.
“The girls have had a really good pre-season and now we are just really looking forward to our first hitout against Casey this Saturday.”
The VFLW team is in, and there are plenty of familiar faces to look out for in the opening game of the season.
