THE last time Carlton defeated Greater Western Sydney, they needed a hero to stand up.
And up against Giants, it was Carlton's own who did.
23,194 people piled into Marvel Stadium to witness the Blues topple the ladder leaders by a point on Sunday 11 June two years ago.
And it was a four-quarter performance from 150-gamer Matthew Kreuzer which was the pick of the bunch.
In his career-best season, the ‘Tractor’ motored along to produce a showing where the numbers said it all: 21 disposals, 33 hitouts, eight tackles, one goal and three Brownlow votes.

It was one disposal in particular in the final term which sticks in the mind — and sums up the No.8 to a T.
Bundling over Tom Scully with his seventh tackle of the game, Kreuzer charged along and soccered the ball 40 metres — straight in the lap of Dale Thomas. It led to a Matthew Wright goal, and opened up an eight-point lead in the final term.
Carlton ultimately prevailed by a point against the Giants, with seventh-gamer Zac Fisher kicking the winning score with minutes remaining and Liam Jones playing his first AFL game in defence.
However, opposed against Shane Mumford, it was the unassuming Kreuzer who drew the headlines on his big day.
