RESET and go again.
The ‘festival of football’ has given Carlton the perfect opportunity to compose itself and get ready for the next challenge.
Senior Coach David Teague is hopeful that the side can rise to the challenge as the Blues continue their loaded fixture in the final weeks of the home-and-away season.
“We were a bit disappointed last week: as much as we were in the game, our ball use probably kept us in it in the first half. But we didn’t really play with the pressure or the intensity [required],” Teague said.
“Hopefully that’ll get back to the standard, we want to use every week to get better and that’s our focus.
“Last week there were some areas we got better but there were a lot of areas that show we still have a lot of improvement to go.”
Sunday night marked Carlton’s ninth change of scenery in the hub, having relocated to the Royal Pines on Sunday night.
Teague said it was something that the playing group was continuing to take in its stride.
“I think each week, our energy and the way the guys train and prepare has been very good so I don’t think it’s affected us,” he said.
“It’s what they do when it’s time to train: they step up, they bring the energy and I expect the same.”
With the end of the season closing in, Teague said the fixture cram meant there would be changes: but selection would be completed on merit.
“We’ve got a lot of games into our younger guys over the last three or four years,” he said.
“For us, it’s about playing the guys who are prepared the best and ready to go and putting out a team that gives us the best chance to go out there and win.
“What we do have at the moment is great depth. We’re pretty excited if the guys that played last week aren’t ready to go, then we have guys who can step up and play those roles and get the job done.”
