WITH a short turnaround for Carlton this week, the debrief and lessons from Sunday’s loss will have to sink in quickly.
Co-captain Sam Docherty said the side was unhappy with the way their showing against Collingwood: however, he said the Blues didn’t have any time to wonder what might have been.
Rather, he said it was crucial to not spend much time dwelling on the loss and instead look forward to the game against Greater Western Sydney on Thursday.
“It was pretty disappointing: we didn’t play as well as we were hoping to going into the game, defensively they did a lot of what they wanted to do in terms of their contested game,” Docherty said.
“It was a big loss for us but we move on this week, we’ve got the short turnaround in four days so we’re already gearing up for GWS.”
Despite the weekend’s result, Carlton still finds in a mid-table logjam with four games to go.
Docherty said it was a sign of the Blues’ progression to be in the conversation come the end of the season: but it couldn’t afford to be a case of ‘what might have been’.
Good news: there's no structural damage for the skipper.

“It’s a welcome change to have our season alive late in the season,” he said.
“It’s a bit of both worlds: you’re happy that you’re thereabouts and you’re on the way up but it still hurts just as much when you’re losing games of footy.”
With the Blues up against the Giants on Thursday, Docherty noted that they have had to move on quickly to get ready for this week's game.
“We used yesterday as sort of our review day and we move on today and we start to prep for the Giants,” he said.
“We really do just have to move on and park it, get our learnings from it and move onto GWS which is a big game as well.”
