IT’S A good day to be a good deal.

While Boxing Day is one of the great times to go shopping, Carlton had well and truly done that over the last 12 months with its AFL and AFLW programs.

A whole host of key players re-signed for the coming years at IKON Park - and that’s not including the contracts of Senior Coaches Michael Voss and Mathew Buck prior to the respective seasons.

Here’s who re-signed in 2024.

Jacob Weitering (2031)

The big ticket item that got done for the Blues from a contract perspective was that of Jacob Weitering, who didn’t wait long until after the season was done to commit his future to IKON Park. Still with a year to run on his existing deal, the co-vice captain wasted no time is declaring his intent to remain a Blue, signing a six-year extension to take his stay at Carlton until at least the end of 2031.

Mimi Hill (2027)

Not to be outdone, Weitering’s contemporary in the AFLW program also made clear of her intent to steer the Club forward. Well in advance of the season commencing, co-vice captain Mimi Hill signed for a further three more years back in April, committing until at least the end of 2027. Hill has packed in a fair bit throughout her years already in Navy Blue, with an AFLW Rising Star win plus a Carlton AFLW Best and Fairest victory in that time.

Darcy Vescio (2026)

From the future of the AFLW Blues, to a genuine trailblazer. It wouldn’t feel like Carlton if Darcy Vescio wasn’t around, and they made sure that their commitment to IKON Park was as unwavering and unquestionable as when they walked through the doors on day one. Vescio signed a two-year extension in the week leading up to Round 1 of the AFLW campaign.

Blake Acres (2027)

Another fan favourite was quick to get on the front foot, having made no secret of how at home he is in the Navy Blue. Despite having an extra year and a bit to run on his existing contract, there was absolutely zero need for Blake Acres and the Blues to wait: both parties knew that they’re a good fit. Acres re-signed until 2027 back in June leading into the mid-season bye.

Elijah Hollands (2026)

Speaking of at home in Navy Blue, Elijah Hollands settled in seamlessly at IKON Park. Playing every available game in 2024, Hollands - who relished being alongside brother Ollie in his first year at the Club - penned a two-year extension the day after Acres, committing until the end of 2026.

Maddy Guerin (2026) and Harriet Cordner (2025)

The platform was set for brilliant personal seasons of Maddy Guerin and Harriet Cordner before the campaign had started. Guerin, who enjoyed her most consistent season to date in one of the key positives for the Blues this year, re-signed until 2026, while Cordner signed for an extra year ahead of making the All-Australian squad for the second time in her career - and first time as a Blue.

Matthew Cottrell (2027), Corey Durdin and Lachie Fogarty (both 2026)

Triple treat, part one. A group of the Blues’ forwards all backed in the Club’s direction and their development with multi-year extensions. Matthew Cottrell was first cab off the rank days after Round 1, signing a three-year extension with his boyhood club - a far-cry from being the last player on the list and re-rookied in his opening years at IKON Park. Corey Durdin - with Jaws-inspired video and all - was next up a month later, before Lachie Fogarty - six months after signing a one-year extension - was also rewarded with a two-year deal.

Dayna Finn, Ciara Fitzgerald and Lily Goss (all 2026)

Triple treat, part two. This was the most recent of the Blues’ re-signing news, when Dayna Finn, Ciara Fitzgerald and Lily Goss all backed up arguably career-best seasons for each of them with two-year extensions. It kickstarted a feel-good period for the AFLW side, signing Tara Bohanna from Gold Coast, two new Irish recruits in Síofra O’Connell and Aisling Reidy before welcoming draftees Poppy Scholz, Sophie McKay and Loulou Field in a busy few days to end the year.

Jordan Boyd, Hudson O’Keeffe (both 2026) and Alex Cincotta (2025)

Triple treat, part three. On the rookie list in 2024, the impact that Jordan Boyd, Alex Cincotta and Hudson O’Keeffe continued to make both around the Club and in their own games was duly acknowledged. Boyd, who was ultimately upgraded to the senior list, penned a two-year extension, while Cincotta earned another year as he added more strings to his bow. Developing ruck O’Keeffe continued to showcase the promising upside in his game with a two-year deal.
