Alan Richardson joins Carlton
Alan Richardson has been appointed as Senior Assistant Coach of the Club.
Richardson has earned an excellent coaching reputation since retiring from playing after playing 114 games with Collingwood between 1987 and 1996. He joins the Blues from Essendon where he has been an assistant coach for the last two seasons.
Richardson commenced his coaching career at East Burwood where he guided the team to successive premierships and then Coburg before joining the Western Bulldogs as an Assistant Coach. In 2006 he moved to Collingwood in the role of player development coach, adding further skills to his coaching portfolio.
“Alan has developed a wonderful coaching reputation and his experience as an Assistant Coach and a Player Development Coach will be valuable for the Carlton Football Club in this senior position in our coaching panel in 2011. Alan will work closely with Brett Ratten as well as with the assistant and development coaches in this important role going forward,” said Carlton General Manager Football Operations, Steven Icke.
Alan said he was looking forward to the new role at Carlton.
“I am excited at this opportunity to work closely with Brett Ratten and the other coaches in what is a more senior role for me, and to play an important part in our quest to bring success to the Carlton Football Club.”
