THERE’LL be a different feel to Carlton’s squad when it takes on St Kilda this Saturday.
As the Blues play their first match against external opposition for 2025, attention will turn to the team’s preparation for the upcoming season.
In the extended squad of 30, Carlton fans will get their first look at as many as five new Blues who have yet to pull on the Navy Blue jumper in a senior game.
Experienced recruit Nick Haynes has been named to help shore up the Blues’ backline, while a duo of recent draftees - Jagga Smith and Lucas Camporeale - could post get their first showing in their new colours.
“I’ve loved learning about the history and culture of Carlton, you can tell the fans are very, very passionate here - I love that."

A big Friday Feature with our new Blue.
Preparing for his outing in his new colours, it's very clear what Nick Haynes wants to achieve at Carlton.
The uncapped Harry Lemmey is also named, as is Matthew Carroll, who was re-rookied as a supplemental selection period signing on the back of an impressive summer.
That’s not including a number of other young Blues eager to make their mark, including Jaxon Binns, Cooper Lord and Ashton Moir who all had a taste of senior football in 2024.
There’ll also be a fair share of experience through the squad, with captain Patrick Cripps, veteran Sam Docherty and key pillars Jacob Weitering and Harry McKay all featuring.
Expect managed minutes throughout the squad, with the key focus being preparation as the 2025 season fast approaches in just three weeks. There’ll be the chance for some of the 30 Blues listed in the extended AFL squad plus those fit and available to hone their craft in the VFL practice match, which will immediately follow the AFL game at 11am.
The Carlton-St Kilda clash will be broadcast live on Kayo and Fox Footy from 11am. For all the details about the match simulation and to register your attendance for the free event, click here!
