Carlton General Manager Football Operations Steven Icke said Casboult, the key position/ruckman originally hailing from Beaconsfield via Dandenong Under 18s, had truly earned his newly-acquired status.
Casboult, originally taken with selection (44th overall Carlton’s third round) in the 2010 rookie draft, got the good news to go with “the key to the door”, having turned 21 on Tuesday.
“It is fantastic and great to know that I am now available for selection in the Carlton team. Of course being available is one thing, I know there is plenty of work to be done to hopefully earn selection while I have the opportunity,” Levi said on the welcome news.
“While it is good news for me it is certainly not good for Luke who injured his shoulder and is on the long-term injury list. Obviously it has been really tough for him in his first year at the Club but he is a great bloke and determined to return as soon as he is able, and I know he will,” added Levi.
Casboult joins Ed Curnow as the two rookie list players who are now available for senior selection. While Levi is available while Mitchell remains on the long-term injury list, Curnow is Carlton’s nominated rookie and as such is available for senior selection for the season.
