Marc Murphy was one of ten players who received votes from the AFL club captains when they were asked who they think would win the 2011 Brownlow Medal.

Murphy and Chris Judd both received one vote with Luke Hodge, Joel Selwood and Dane Swan being selected by three of the AFL captains as the player they think will be taking the medal home later this year.

The AFL today polled the 17 AFL club captains for their views on the impending AFL Premiership Season. The captains were together at a gathering with the AFL Commission on the eve of the season launch, and they were asked key questions on the season ahead.

The one proviso was that their individual answers would be treated anonymously to ensure personal views.

On the question; Which seven other clubs do you think can make this year’s top eight, Carlton received nine votes, the same number as Adelaide and Fremantle. Collingwood (16), St Kilda (15), Geelong (15), Hawthorn (14) and Sydney (10) were the five teams to receive more votes than the Blues.

While no Carlton player featured in who the captains will take Mark of the Year or win the 2011 Coleman Medal, Eddie Betts and Jeffrey Garlett each received one vote in who the captains think will kick goal of the year. Melbourne’s Liam Jurrah (3), Mark LeCras of West Coast (2), Daniel Motlop, Port Adelaide (2) and Cyril Rioli from Hawthorn (2) were the only players to receive more than one vote.
