While the Blues were not playing on the big stage, a number of players were at the game involved in activities at the MCG.
Chris Yarran was at the game to accept his Goal of the Year Awards from the AFL and 3AW. Kane Lucas represented Carlton in the AFL Sprint while other players were guests of corporate sponsors and media outlets in the various corporate and media facilities around the MCG.
Heath Scotland the Matthew Kreuzer joined 4-time Olympian, and keen Carlton supporter, Leisel Jones, at the CUB (Carlton Draught) marquee in the September Club prior to and after the game. Both Kreuzer and Scotland were interviewed by Billy Brownless prior to the game with both players confirming they were looking forward to 2013 under new coach Mick Malthouse.
Leisel Jones confirmed her support for Carlton, admitting she was looking forward to watching the game but not as excited as she would be if her Blues were involved. Speaking with MC Nathan Brown Jones said she had met Mick Malthouse on a number of occasions during her swimming career and that she thought he was not only a fantastic person but an outstanding coach and was excited that he would be coaching Carlton in 2013.
All three and guests joined other guests from CUB to watch the exciting Grand Final before returning to the September Club to dissect the match.
