Carlton’s membership this week broke the 40,000 barrier for only the second time in the club’s history. As of April 23rd Carlton has 40,061 members, 3,200 more than for the same time last year.

“This is a wonderful result so far, membership is so important to the Club. It is a further indication of the outstanding support we continue to receive from our supporters and a real credit to those who have joined as members in 2009,” said Carlton CEO Greg Swann.

Last year was the only other time Carlton has reached 40,000 members with a final total of 40,764 in 2008.

“There are over 8,000 members from last year who are yet to renew their membership. With the support of these former members we will be able to create a new membership record for Carlton in 2009,” Swann added.

The Blues have played only two home games this season with the next home game in Melbourne being played on Friday May 29th against West Coast. Members will have access to a further eight home games in Melbourne as well as the away game against Essendon at the MCG on *Friday June 26th.

To assist new members the Club has secured a new allocation of reserved seating at both home venues for Gold Members.
