The speculation has commenced about players who are looking to change clubs and importantly who the media believe may be at Carlton in 2009. Fremantle’s Robert Warnock has indicated he is keen to return home to Melbourne and has indicated he would like to join Carlton. The 206cm young ruckman was recruited by Fremantle with their third round selection (selection 42 overall) in the 2005 AFL National Draft after playing his junior football with Old Brighton and Sandringham Under 18s. Warnock, like other players looking to change clubs will need to do so via the draft or a trade and the following dates provide an outline of when these decisions will be made.
AFL Exchange Period – Monday October 6 to Friday October 10
Trades close at 2:00pm on Friday.
AFL National Draft – Saturday November 29
Pre-Season Draft – Tuesday December 16
Rookie Draft – Tuesday December 16
Of course the fact that these are the important dates will not stop the speculation about possible trades and top draft selections.
