TWO NEW Blues.
AFL Senior Coach Michael Voss has confirmed that Carlton will have two new players on Thursday night against Richmond.
Lucas Camporeale will make his AFL debut, capping off an impressive first pre-season where he has put his best foot forward in an already impressive midfield outfit to turn heads and force his case for selection.
An outside midfielder, Camporeale boasts speed and endurance on the wing, becoming a link between the defence and forward lines and finding himself in the right place at the right time.
The youngster capped off his summer with a strong showing against GWS in the AAMI Community Series, looking at home in the Navy Blue already - which comes as no surprise, given father Scott played 233 games for Carlton between 1995 to 2005.
In a case of Navy Blue fate, Scott made his own Carlton debut at the MCG in Round 1 of 1995 - Lucas will now pull on the jumper for the first time 30 years on.
He will be joined out there by Nick Haynes, who will make his own Navy Blue debut after playing 211 games for the Giants.
A veteran defender and former All Australian, Haynes has brought a wealth of knowledge to IKON Park, woking alongside Jacob Weitering and Mitch McGovern to take charge of the backline.
Besides his unparalleled experience which includes a Grand Final and 14 finals, Haynes has made an immediate impact at IKON Park, with his intercept marking and decision-making on full display in Carlton’s pre-season.
The remainder of the Round 1 team will be released on Wednesday night at 6:20pm (AEDT).
