CARLTON star Marc Murphy doubts Brendan Fevola has any chance of returning to the club despite his former teammate's recent good form at VFL level and the endorsement of Blues director Jeanne Pratt.

The widow of former president Dick Pratt was quoted on the Nine Network's The Footy Show on Thursday night as having a desire to see Fevola return to the club he left in disgrace after a series of alcohol-fuelled off-field incidents at the end of the 2009 season.

Fevola has kicked 63 goals, including bags of 11 and 10, for the Casey Scorpions since he was moved on from the Brisbane Lions for similar reasons at the end of the 2010 season.

"It's good to see him kicking goals and playing some good footy, but in terms of him coming back here, or coming back to AFL footy, I'm not really too sure," Murphy said from Visy Park on Friday.

"With the way we're going forward I don't think he'll be back here at Carlton. If someone wants to pick him up then all the best to them and him."

The club is keen to distance itself from speculation over Fevola's playing future on the eve of a finals campaign.

Murphy's views mirror those of coach Brett Ratten who is attempting to guide the Blues to their first elimination final win in three attempts in his fifth full season at the helm.

More to come.
