Three-time premiership player and premiership Coach Robert Walls was tonight elevated to the status of Hall of Fame Legend of the Carlton Football Club - becoming only the eleventh man in the old dark Navy Blues’ long and illustrious 147-year history to be so honored.

Walls now joins Craig Bradley, Bert Deacon, Bruce Doull, Alex Jesaulenko, Wayne Johnston, Stephen Kernahan, John Nicholls, Stephen Silvagni, Harry “Soapy” Vallence and Ken Hands in that coveted group.

Having been inducted to the Carlton Football Club Hall of Fame in 1990, Walls’ elevation to Legend highlighted an evening in which the Hall also accepted five new Inductees representing the club’s designated eras - Vin Gardiner (1864-1938), Ron Barassi and John Goold (1939-1970) and David Parkin and Anthony Koutoufides (1971-current).

Tonight’s elevation of Walls, coupled with the naming of five new Inductees to the Hall, underpinned the Carlton Football Club’s much-anticipated 30th anniversary Reunion Dinner celebrating the 1981-82 Grand Final triumphs.

The Carlton Football Club Hall of Fame, established in 1987, now boasts 72 members - from the 19th century Champion of the Colony George Coulthard through to Koutoufides.

The Hall of Fame Selection Committee comprised Carlton CEO Greg Swann, triple premiership captain and five-time club best and fairest John Nicholls, four-time premiership player and Spirit of Carlton Past & Present representative David McKay, current board member and 1987 premiership player Adrian Gleeson, triple premiership player and 1981 club best and fairest Ken Hunter, 1995 premiership player Andrew McKay, 1968 premiership player and former President Ian Collins, and Carlton journalist/archivist Tony De Bolfo.
