Carlton is confident Bryce Gibbs will see out the final three years of his contract at the Club, after the Blues couldn’t reach an agreement with Adelaide on the final day of the NAB AFL Trade Period on Thursday. 

Speaking with SEN on Friday morning, Head of Football Andrew McKay said Gibbs would’ve only be traded for “the right price”.

"We obviously value Bryce more highly than they do," McKay said. 

"It wasn't a matter of us mucking them around at all, we were prepared to let Bryce go for the right price.

“(But) they weren't close enough. We had a few options on the table and they (Adelaide) weren't able to deliver those options. 

"We always were very honest with the Crows on what we were after and they couldn't come to the party."

Gibbs asked to return to Adelaide for personal reasons and the Crows have signaled their intent in pursuing a trade next year.

But McKay was hopeful Gibbs would have a change of heart. 

"Time will tell of course, but we're confident we'll be able to get some good support around Bryce and he can enjoy Melbourne and obviously Carlton," McKay said. 

"He's enjoyed the footy club and the people in the footy club enormously in the last 10 years. 

"He's got some other stuff going on in his life, but we want to support him and get him through those times. 

"Bryce has shown great professionalism through the whole process. We believe we can get him back in the fold and not make him feel too awkward and get him back to playing some really good footy for Carlton. 

"I know he's away at the moment with a number of players, so he's probably in the best spot he can be with all his mates."
