Carlton’s Harry McKay has suffered a stress reaction in his lower back that will keep him on the sidelines for 12 weeks.
The 18-year-old forward complained of discomfort during the weekend’s training session and scans today revealed the injury.
“After a second set of scans confirmed the injury, Harry will unfortunately miss the first two months of the season,” Carlton’s Head of Football Andrew McKay said.
“With no surgery required, Harry will rest for the next two weeks before beginning his rehab plan.
“As you can imagine the news has been really disappointing for him and the Club, however we are optimistic Harry will be in a position to make his Carlton debut later in the season.
“Prior to this set back we have been really pleased with his application and development since being drafted in November last year.”
