Continuing the family tradition, Jack Silvagni will continue his career in the Blues’ famous No.1 guernsey.
Previously worn by father Stephen and grandfather Serge, the number was vacated by Andrew Walker following his retirement this year.
The 18-year-old said he was thrilled to continue a proud family tradition in the navy blue guernsey.
“The No.1 guernsey is obviously really significant to our family so I always thought that one day if I had the opportunity to pull it on, I would take that with both hands,” Silvagni said.
“'Walks' (Andrew Walker) actually approached the Club about his guernsey going to me and the Club then asked Dad (Stephen).
“Dad and my Nonno (Serge) presented me with the jumper in Italy recently with my mum and Nonna watching on. It was very special. It is a real privilege to wear the No.1 guernsey."
Taken at pick six overall at Friday’s AFL national draft, Sam Petrevski-Seton will inherit the Club’s famous No.5 guernsey, previously worn by club greats including Chris Judd, Andrew McKay and indigenous champion Syd Jackson.
Fellow recruits Zac Fisher will don the No.25, Cam Polson heads to No.29, Tom Williamson in No.31, Harrison Macreadie will wear No.26, while Patrick Kerr, grandson of Carlton great Laurie Kerr, will forge his career in the No.36.
New utility Billie Smedts will take on the No.16 guernsey, while Caleb Marchbank is set to have a long career at the Blues in the No.22. Former Giants players Rhys Palmer and Jarrod Pickett will wear No.24 and No.33 respectively.
Jesse Glass-McCasker will move to the No.40 guernsey, previously vacated by Michael Jamison. Rookie Kym LeBois will take on the No.42 guernsey, while Carlton childhood supporter Alex Silvagni will wear the No.44.
