Three of Carlton’s “Environmental Ambassadors” - Eddie Betts, Jason Saddington and Jake Edwards helped students from Brunswick South Primary School celebrate National Tree Day during a Visy in Schools visit last week.

The players held visited Brunswick South Primary School as part of the Visy Effective Disposals in Schools Program that is part of the joint project between the Carlton Football Club and Visy to promote the importance of looking after the environment.

National Tree Day was Sunday July 27th and the players visited the school on  Thursday July 24th and celebrated School Tree Day with the students and teachers. As well as conducting the Visy Effective Disposals clinic that promotes recycling and the environment the players assisted the students to plant three fruit trees at the school.

National Tree Day is Australia’s biggest community tree-planting event and since Tree Day started in 1996 more than 1.5 million volunteers have planted over 11.5 million native trees and shrubs. This year Carlton’s “Environmental Ambassadors” helped the Brunswick South Primary School to be involved in National Tree Day to help save and enhance our environment.
