On Saturday July the 28th, in the beautiful city of Melbourne, 45 very excited students from Riverside High in Northern Tasmania rocked up to the MCG to witness the Round 18 clash between the mighty Blues and the Tigers.

For most of us, this was our first time attending a game at the MCG. After a long walk from our hotel, we finally got to our seats. The atmosphere was simply amazing, sitting up in the fourth tier amongst a crowd of 45,000 people looking over the ground. Hearing the massive roar as the players ran out on to the field was the best feeling for me personally... it just does not get much better than that!

Even though every week I sit there on the couch and watch the Blues play, you just don’t realise what you are missing out on when you watch a game live for the first time. As the Blues were coming out of the back half you could see the game unfold in front of your eyes, watching the players flood in to the forward line as the forwards lead out to take a mark, it’s sensational to watch.

A favourite part of the game is when one of the players gets tackled and the crowd just explodes “BALLLLLLL”. It’s deafening sitting there listening to the crowd go wild but it is all worth it.

The game itself was close for its entirety and in those dying seconds when the Blues were losing by two points, you could see the Tigers flood all of their players into the backline. Carlton then bombed it out and the game was over for Tigers because all the Blues had to do was get the ball down to their end that was what they did. The amazing Brock McLean kicked the ball from fifty and as the ball rolled through the goals, I jumped up out of my seat and screamed as loud as I possibly could and all of the supporters in the crowd followed. I was so excited that my amazing team Carlton had won the game that I wanted to cry. It was just amazing!

I would do anything to get the opportunity to go back to the MCG and experience that all over again. It was sensational.
