Community involvement is of the upmost importance to the Carlton Football Club.
In 2014, Carlton players dedicated more than one thousand hours of their time across 56 schools, reaching more than 4,300 students.
Their involvement included facilitating healthy and active lifestyle workshops, as well participating in a range of football drills and skills sessions. Players were also on hand to answer a multitude of questions from students about life in the AFL.
Carlton’s community team has received plenty of positive feedback from schools about this year’s program, including from Bundoora Primary School’s Pina Saliba.
“The guys were extremely friendly and professional and the kids loved every minute of the clinics,” Ms Saliba said.
Carlton’s Fan Development and Community Coordinator Adrian Asdagi said a commitment to the community is essential for the future of the game.
“It’s so important that our players become positive role models for the next generation and help develop the game from the grass roots,” Asdagi said.
“It will ensure that our great game continues to have a growing supporter-base and thrives into the future.”
