The co-captain had once again been in outstanding form prior to his injury, averaging an 28 disposals, six tackles and eight clearances across the first 13 rounds.
Carlton will also receive an offensive boost in the return of leading goalkicker Harry McKay for the Round 17 clash.
The key forward, who has kicked 19 goals so far this season, is a welcome addition after missing the last two rounds with groin soreness.
McKay notched up six contested marks against Sydney last time these two sides met in Round 3, finishing among the Blues’ best for the day.
But amongst the returning stars, a new Blue gets his chance at senior level with Hugh Goddard set to make his debut against the Swans."For as long as I can remember, I've always loved playing football."

Goddard gets his opportunity in the backline after an impressive run for the Northern Blues in his first season in Navy Blue.
The former Saint has averaged 16.5 disposals and eight marks across his 11 VFL appearances and gets his opportunity in the absence of Caleb Marchbank and Jacob Weitering.
Weitering is set to miss the trip interstate as he recovers from surgery following an incident that resulted in a broken nose against Melbourne.

The off-season recruit has been managed through several injuries over the season, which has had a significant impact on his ability to train from week to week.
He will now be able to recover and build his training loads back up before returning to the side.
