CARLTON forward Alex Fasolo has today made the decision to retire, calling time on his 104-game AFL career.
Fasolo joined the Blues as an unrestricted free agent at the end of 2018, playing three games this season.
Prior to joining Carlton, the 27-year-old spent eight seasons at Collingwood after entering the competition via the third round of the 2011 National Draft.
Fasolo said he is comfortable with his decision and looks forward to entering the next phase of his life.
“I am content with my decision to leave the game having played nine years at the highest level,” Fasolo said.
“I want to thank the Carlton Football Club for giving me the opportunity to continue my career for an additional year and also say thank you to Collingwood for giving me my start and the initial chance to live out my dream.”
Carlton GM of List Management and Strategy Stephen Silvagni said the Club wished Fasolo all the best in retirement.
“To play over 100 games across nine seasons in the AFL is something Alex should be incredibly proud of,” Silvagni said.
“We would like to congratulate Alex on his career and wish him all the best as he enters the next stage of his life.”
Fasolo will play his final game when he runs out for the Northern Blues against Sandringham this Sunday.
