SENIOR Coach Michael Voss is confident his side is clear on their improvements ahead of their Round 3 clash with the Bulldogs.
Not looking further than the game in front of them with the personnel currently at their disposal, the Blues are looking to turn the ledger on Friday night at Marvel Stadium.
Here's what he had to say.
On Harry McKay:
"He’s doing okay. He was dealing with a few things during the week, took some time away from the Club but felt best that he doesn’t play this week. We’ll give him the space he needs to work through a few things and not necessarily put a timeframe on it but hopefully will be back soon.
"He was back at the club on Wednesday: needed a few days away and used the opportunity to create a bit of space, and we respect his privacy and we get on with things as a team.
"It’s always the player over performance in terms of being able to look after the person first, and that’s the position we’ve taken. He’ll get the support he needs at the Club, we’ll wrap our arms around him as I hope the whole football industry does."
On re-jigging the forward mix:
"'Kempy' has been a mainstay there, so I don’t imagine him changing too much. I won’t disclose too much either. We’ll keep that for now, and we’ll make decisions around what that forward line needs to look like.
"We’ll balance that up with trying to establish cohesion as well with the group. We’ve had a pretty stable group over the course of the pre-season, and a really important part for us is being able to develop consistency and that cohesion with the group.
"We haven’t had that for the last two or three seasons, but we’ve been afforded that so far. The early parts of the year have been a little bit stable, but we also acknowledge we’ve got a bit to work on."
On Charlie Curnow working up the ground:
"We want Charlie to play more in the front half, it’s a real strength of his and ours that we’ve got him there.
"One of his great strengths is he’s a great athlete and he can move, so if we can play him higher up the ground, then we’ll do that, but obviously reset forward when we need to.
"He’s still establishing his game and coming back into the form that he wants, but we’re happy having him back out there."
On starting the season with two losses:
"I don’t tend to focus a lot on the scoreboard heading into the game. I tend to focus on how we execute, so this game presents a different challenge with a different team and how we get that done.
"If we get that right, we can turn that ledger around. For us, it’s about getting to work during the week and working out where those parts are. For the majority of the early part of the season, we've good parts to our game, strong parts that we’ve gone to work on, but we also acknowledge there are a couple of parts that we need to improve."
On where Jack Silvagni could play:
"One piece is not too big of a piece when we talk about overall stability, but it’s a consideration for either.
"We’ll just weigh that up and see whether he plays back and we can throw him forward, it’s a possibility. We’ve tried to add that flexibility, as with 'Kempy' being able to play forward and back. We’ve added a few parts of our game in terms of positional moves that we can make in game, but also we want to have reliability in the way we turn up, how we show up and how we compete as a team.
"I’m pretty comfortable that we’ve had a couple of weeks where we’ve done that as a majority, we have to make sure we can do that consistently for this game."

On handling Sam Darcy:
"He’s been impressive: his growth over the last 18 months, he’s become a really important player for the Dogs. We’ll have our hands full, we have some contingencies in place as well that we need to be able to have.
"In the end, you have to rely on the match-up you’ve been given and the support that the match you get, because his reach is pretty impressive and is a strong contested mark.
"Any defence will break down if you’re not on with your pressure around the ball. Obviously we’re going to try and make it as hard as we can and get that ball as high as we can, but at times, we appreciate that they will break through.
"There are going to be some breakdowns in our defence, and we just ask our defenders to scramble as best as they can, and whoever gets that match up, we’re confident they can get the job done."

On vision of his post-match address last week on Carlton Media channels:
"All part of what we’re trying to do is trying to bring everyone along for the ride, for the journey. It’s a really important connection piece for us and we want to be as transparent as possible on what we’re trying to build.
"It’s not unusual, we’ve done that a fair bit and the main reason for that is that we want to connect to our supporters and understand what we want to value.
"In that video, that’s the process: the four points don’t go your way, acknowledge that we have to get better, but at the same time, make sure we acknowledge the things we want to value are there, we need to make them strengths of ours."
On ball movement and finishing plays:
"We need to get better with that. [But] we’ve got a funny way of being able to put a spotlight on something and just go after that, and then other parts of your game fall apart.
"It will still be built on how we defend and what contest we want to bring to the game, and then, when we get better looks from better parts of the ground, which we are, how do we finish our plays? It’s been something we’ve been quite efficient with in the past, but right now, we have to go to work on it.
"We’ve spent a hell of a lot of time on how we want to move the ball and the roles that go within that, and how we can maximise our efficiency. One of the big challenges that every team wants is to be able to attack from better positions on the ground. We’ve been able to do that, let’s get really clear on that, and then how do we build from that?"
