Black and white versus Navy Blue… and White.
A boyhood Bluebagger will debut in one of the biggest stages in football, with Will White to make his AFL debut in front of over 80,000 people at the MCG on Thursday night.
A supplemental selection period signing in pre-season, White’s stunning rise from Carlton Reserves to senior Blue will be completed tomorrow, when he officially becomes Carlton player No.1245.
Originally from Warrnambool, White didn’t play a game for the VFL Blues in his first season but then enjoyed a brilliant personal campaign in 2024, finishing third in the Club’s Best and Fairest while also being crowned the team’s Best Young Player.
The speedy left-footer can play a number of roles up forward or even pushing onto a wing, kicking 21 goals in his debut season for the Carlton Reserves.
A premiership player with the South Warrnambool Roosters, the 21-year-old who grew up idolising Chris Judd and who would make the trip to Melbourne for blockbusters at the MCG will now pull on the Navy Blue jumper for the first time.
He becomes the first Carlton debutant against Collingwood since Zac Williams in 2021, and the first Blue to make their AFL debut against the old enemy since Jack Silvagni in 2016.
