A FAMILIAR face returns after a long-term injury.
IKON Park will host the Blues taking on the Saints in Round 13 of the 2024 VFLW season.
Carlton is back on the winners list and will want to carry that form heading into the last two rounds of the home and away season. They will meet the Southern Saints for the first time this year who sit just below Carlton on the ladder.
Last week’s emphatic 24-point win was thanks to three goals scored in the last quarter, lending a mountain of confidence to the group -- they know those wearing the Navy Blue can close out a game.
The defensive lineup remains relatively the same as last week after keeping Essendon to just 1.4 (10).
Carlton have introduced AFLW-listed players Tarni Brown, Jess Dal Pos and Tahlia Read to the fray, exposing them to the VFLW environment for the first time this season.
Dal Pos will be no stranger to the Carlton environment after taking part in a coaching role over the last few months of the AFLW off-season.
The experienced campaigner has played 64 games at the AFLW level, but also was part of the Premiership dynasty at the Darebin Falcons before heading over to the Greater Western Sydney Giants for five years.
This will be the first game for Dal Pos since a fractured fibula ruled her out for the last two games of the 2023 AFLW season.
Brown was traded to the Blues from the Magpies after serving three years in the black and white, having been drafted at pick 19 in the 2020 AFLW National Draft. The midfielder debuted against the Blues, going on to play 34 games and kick nine goals for the rivals.
Read got a taste of this level last year as a forward after being traded from Fremantle in her return back to Victoria. The 20-year-old will line up with familiar face Mia Austin who will also rejoin the team since her last stint in Round 6.
Also returning to the squad this week is Emily Hurley who has been battling an injury over the last month, but now is ready to approach the end of the season on a high.
Octavia Di Donato and Hannah Bowey will hold their positions in the backline while Eliza Wood and Sophie McCarthy ply their trade with the forwards.
This week's emergencies are Layla Prince, Jemma Stokes, and Amy Trindade.
Carlton will host their clash with the Southern Saints on Sunday 16 June, ready for the first bounce at 12pm (AEST).
