We fully support Heath: Carrazzo
Carlton's Andrew Carrazzo says veteran Heath Scotland has the support of the club after he was involved in a brawl
Scotland, 31, became embroiled in a brawl at Mulwala Ski Club in the early hours of Sunday, January 29, which saw a man knocked unconscious briefly.
The 223-game veteran maintains he only became involved after he went to the aid of his brother, who was attacked by a group of people, and Carrazzo was confident the police investigation would corroborate his teammate's account of the incident.
"[Heath] is doing well and I would expect nothing else," Carrazzo said on Tuesday.
"He's [just] been himself for the last couple of days and we're going to back him in.
"We fully support Heath. The club released a statement yesterday outlining what was happening from here on in."
The club is awaiting the outcome of the police investigation before making any further comment.
Carrazzo was speaking at the launch of club initiative, Blue Zone, which saw Carlton players meet with Lygon St retailers in an effort to reinforce the club's links with its traditional Melbourne heartland.
The Blues have stepped up their pre-season training program in recent weeks and Carrazzo is confident the side can improve on its 2011 showing that saw it finish fifth.
"I think just having a fit and able team, having Matty Kreuzer back for a full season is going to really help and Shaun Hampson as well," the 28-year-old said of his team's prospects.
"I think it will be just a general improvement across the board rather than any [specific] additions we've had to the group."
While the mood is buoyant at Visy Park with the first round of the NAB Cup just three weeks away, Carrazzo said the team was yet to set in place any firm goals for the 2012 season.
"That will come a bit closer to the season," he said.
"I think once we get into games and we get a feel for guys falling into their positions then we'll get a better idea of how the coaches see where we're sitting and the things we need to improve on."
The Blues kick off their NAB Cup campaign at AAMI Stadium on February 26 against Adelaide and Port Adelaide.
