CARLTON has made two forced changes to its team of 22 for the Good Friday SuperClash with North Melbourne.
It was confirmed earlier in the week that wingman Blake Acres (suspension) and Matthew Owies (hamstring) would be unavailable for Round 4.
In their absence, the Blues have respectively called upon Lochie O’Brien and Josh Honey to take their place.
While not technically an ‘inclusion’, it will be O’Brien’s first full game for season 2023, having been activated in Carlton’s opening three matches as substitute.
Meanwhile, it will be Honey’s first match of the campaign, and his first since Round 19 of last season where he had 14 disposals and a goal against GWS.
Carlton’s sub will be one of its four emergencies in Jack Carroll, Paddy Dow, Lachie Plowman and potential debutant Alex Cincotta — this will be announced an hour before the bounce.
The Blues’ on-ball mix will be a wait and see as it was last weekend, with the likes of Sam Docherty and Zac Fisher both getting increased midfield minutes, while Adam Cerra spent more time across half-back in an impressive showing.
It's fitting that the first time Docherty and Ben Cunnington come up against each other on opposing sides since their shared health journeys comes on Good Friday, as the Roos and Blues come together to raise funds for the Royal Children's Hospital through the Good Friday Appeal.
While things have changed for both sides since the last clash, the Blues will be hoping for more of the same from a performance which saw them prevail by 50 points: Harry McKay and Charlie Curnow combined for seven goals and 17 marks on the night.
Tomorrow’s game at Marvel Stadium kicks off from 4:20pm AEST, in what will mark Carlton’s first Good Friday SuperClash since its inception in 2017.
