The Carlton Football Club continues to shore up its senior players for 2012 and beyond, with Heath Scotland and Andrew Carrazzo re-signing for the next 12 months and two years respectively.

Carlton General Manager - Football Operations Steven Icke said that the Scotland-Carrazzo re-signings, on the back of new agreements reached with Michael Jamison and Marc Murphy, were welcomed by the club.

“In Heath’s case he’s been in good form, and we’re rewarding his really good start to the year,” Icke said.“The fact that he’s still making such a significant contribution to our team means that he and the club are happy to extend his contract beyond this year.

“Andrew is part of our leadership group, and given his consistent performances over a number of years, the Club has seen fit to reward him with a two-year contract. We see Andrew and Heath, along with the other players we re-signed recently, as integral to our success both now and into the future.”

Icke regarded it as an accurate reflection of where the club was at that its senior players had seen fit to put pen to paper “and without any fuss or fanfare in respect of the negotiations”.

As he said: “It’s extremely satisfying from a club point of view that we’re getting players saying ‘I want to be part of Carlton’s future’.”

Scotland, the 157-game Carlton player who completed his senior debut with the Blues in the opening round of 2004, said he was “rapt” to agree to terms for next season.

“I thank Carlton for believing in me and I look forward to doing whatever I can for the Club and the team on its journey through this year and beyond. Carlton is a great place to be and I want to continue being part of it,” Scotland said.

Carrazzo, who debuted in the 21st round of 2004, has represented his team in 133 senior appearances and was a recipient of the John Nicholls Medal for Club best and fairest in 2007.

Carrazzo termed his newly-struck agreement with the club as “fantastic”.

“I’m really excited to enter into a new agreement with Carlton, and now that it’s happened I’m 100 per cent focused on playing and trying to do my absolute best to bring the club a premiership,” Carrazzo said.

“I love Carlton, am forever grateful for the opportunity it gave me, and want to do my best to repay the faith.”
