WHILE 2022 will go down as Adam Saad’s best individual campaign so far, he doesn’t want it to be that way come the end of his career.

On the back of an All-Australian season last year, Saad’s focus for the upcoming year is consistent with what Michael Voss had to say at the culmination of last season: get busy getting better.

For the dynamic defender, he fully believes that he - along with his teammates - can raise the bar from both an individual and team perspective.

“I feel like I’ve still got a lot of improvement left in my footy,” Saad told Channel 7.

“I still want to keep getting better, improving myself… we’ve got that fire in the belly to come back and improve, as a team and better ourselves for the next year.”

It was Saad’s second season in Navy Blue last campaign, but the first under Michael Voss and his coaching panel.

While 12 months ago it was about learning what made each other tick and establishing standards, structures and processes, Saad believes the focus this time around is building on the foundations that have been set.

“It’s more about the connection as a group and building that synergy on-field,” he said.

“We’ve had a year together now, we’ll keep improving our game plan.”

For the cult hero in the No.42, 2022 was a memorable one not only for his performances on the field, but the reception he received from the fans which has been reserved for favourites in years gone by.

And with the Blues having their fair share of big-ticket games following the announcement of the 2023 fixture, expect the ‘woof’ to be back in full force and louder than ever.

“These are good matches to be part of: big crowds, big moments.”
