AN OFFICIAL goal of the week nomination. An AFLW Goal of the Year contender?
We certainly think so, and if you do too, you’d better vote for Georgia Gee’s brilliance on the weekend.
It was a fait accompli that the No.19’s special snap was one of three goals which got the nod for Round 9.
AFLW R9 | Gee's Goal of the Year contender
Carlton's Georgia Gee puts in a second effort leading to a brilliant goal from a very tight angle.
Sealing Carlton’s third consecutive victory, the goal came about when one half of ‘Velcro’ - Maddy Prespakis - attacked a ground ball with customary vigour and dished off to her counterpart.
From there, Gee did the rest.
That makes it sound simple: it really wasn’t.
With a rapidly closing goal-face and taking on a snap which should’ve taken the ball away from the big sticks, Gee slotted the Sherrin through the eye of the needle, prompting the calls of “oh em Gee!” from the commentary booth.
And now, she needs you to vote, up against a double nomination from Collingwood’s Eliza James for Round 9.
