CARLTON showed their resilience against Gold Coast last night, as they staved off a strong Suns outfit in the second quarter to take control of the second half.
Here's what Senior Coach Daniel Harford had to say after the game.
On the outcome:
"It was a bit of an arm wrestle, particularly in the second quarter, I thought Gold Coast were outstanding and really put us on our heels a bit. To be able to reset at half time like the players did and perform the way they did, I'm really proud of them.
"We won three in a row after being one and five feels like a long time away. To be able to get things back on track has been a really positive outcome."
On Mimi Hill and Gab Pound:
"Those two have had really big seasons. Mim obviously coming back from that reconstruction earlier in the year, I think she’s had an outstanding impact on our footy team.
"Gab Pound, she’s just a real class act, she played really well last week as well and she’s backed it up again this week. She settles things down back for us, she uses the ball and makes clear decisions.
"Those two had really nice games but I thought our whole team structure in the end was the reason why we won the game so I’m really proud of the whole group."
On Brea Moody and Jess Good:
"It was probably 'Goody’s; best game, maybe, might be close. She hit the scoreboard a couple of times and I think she’s still working on that element of her game but I thought her bodywork around the ground was phenomenal.
"Then you’ve got 'Moods' who we know is a terrific athlete and she had a couple of gallops along the sidelines as she likes to do.
"Both those two players are still learning a lot about their games too so they’re a long way from being complete athletes at this stage. To have them working in tandem was a really strong outing for us."
On the Melbourne clash:
"I hope we expect a full-scale attack. To make it four in a row and beat a top-six team is something we’d really like to do. Melbourne are clearly a class outfit and we saw that performance last night which is one of the most dynamic I’ve ever seen in the AFLW.
"They’ll be coming in cherry ripe and feeling good about themselves, as they should, because they’re a bloody good team and our challenge is to beat a bloody good team. That’s on the menu for us and we’ll see how we respond."
