CARLTON has upgraded rookies Matthew Kennedy and Josh Honey to its senior list.
Rewarded for their form shown in the back-end of the 2021 season, the two upgraded rookies join new Blue Jesse Motlop as Carlton’s three live selections on the night of the 2021 NAB AFL Draft.
Moved to the rookie list this time 12 months ago, Kennedy seized his opportunity this season, proving his wares as a big-bodied inside midfielder.
Playing the final 10 games of the season uninterrupted, Kennedy averaged over 22 disposals, five tackles and four clearances a game in that time period.
Joining Kennedy on the senior list is Honey, who was selected as a rookie by the Blues two years ago.
After earning his debut back in 2020, it was the final month of the 2021 season where Honey provided some clear excitement for Bluebaggers across the country.
Kicking multiple goals in three straight weeks from Rounds 20-22, Honey’s pace and power makes him a dangerous option in attack, and still has his football ahead of him at just 20 years of age.
Carlton will finalise its list tomorrow in the NAB AFL Rookie Draft.
