The game as it stands

In its inaugural Good Friday clash with North Melbourne, Carlton will be looking to make an impact on and off the field.

A narrow and gritty win against the Giants got the Blues the four points, but they will be looking to put together a more consistent and polished performance against the Roos at Marvel Stadium.

Having not yet lost a game in season 2023, Carlton has some momentum under its belt that the team will want to ramp up, as one of a number of significant games in the coming weeks.

Playing to a blockbuster crowd is a common occurrence for the Blues, who will relish the deafening noise that comes from the Carlton faithful at Marvel Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Key match up

Luke Davies-Uniacke has been named to return for North Melbourne, meaning Carlton’s midfield will have its work cut out for them: the 23-year-old putting on an impressive display in the early games, polling a perfect 10 AFLCA votes two weeks in a row.

The duo of George Hewett and Patrick Cripps will be key, with the duo very familiar to getting first hands on the football or using their physical pressure to win the ball back at the contest.

Player to watch

Adam Cerra put on a strong performance against the Giants last week, showing his versatility when thrown into a few different positions over four quarters.

Being awarded three coaches' votes for his performance, Cerra will aim to use his balance of contested and uncontested ball to generate Carlton's offence.

Picking up 28 disposals and 15 contested possessions in Round 3, Cerra’s clean ball use and willingness to put his head over the ball was pivotal in moving the ball forward for the Blues.

Goss from Voss

Speaking to the media on Thursday morning, Michael Voss said that his side would be mindful of North Melbourne's threats up forward.

"They’ve started really positively. What’s really clear is the identity they want to play," Voss said.

"They probably didn’t get it exactly how they wanted it last week but we expect them to be quite ferocious.

"They’ve got some strengths around the ball that we have to be mindful of and they have some threats up forward that we have to be mindful of as well."

Things we love to see

$5 from each adult ticket sold will be donated to the Good Friday Appeal, which will help support the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Knowing that both the Bluebaggers and Roos fans will show up in numbers, it will be a sizeable donation made to assist with the hospital's support for their patients and families.

In their first Good Friday marquee game, the Blues should be proud of their efforts in supporting such a worthy cause.
