OLLIE Hollands hasn’t put a foot wrong in his AFL career so far — both on and off the field.
That was never more evident than in the immediate moments prior to the Good Friday SuperClash.
As both North Melbourne and Carlton players provided a guard of honour to celebrate the real superheroes of the game, Hollands had made an instinctive decision to make someone’s day.
Bringing a spare pair of signed boots with him, Hollands found a youngster who had just run through the banner and handed him his boots, providing a moment he would never forget.
Speaking on ABC Grandstand after the game, Hollands admitted it wasn’t someone he knew, but rather saw it as an opportunity to give back.
“It’s a very special round and to be able to play on Good Friday, to make that kid’s day — it’s just something I wanted to do to give back to the community,” Hollands said.
“They’re doing it pretty tough, so to play a small part and offer that little gesture, I thought it’d be nice to give to the kid.”

Hollands didn’t let the sense of occasion get to him, performing strongly on the wing in Carlton’s 23-point win.
All throughout pre-season, Hollands’ running capabilities were oft spoken about, but the proof has been in the pudding: in all four games he has played, Hollands has covered the most total distance of anyone on the ground.
Running 16.1 kilometres on Good Friday, Hollands said it was - simply - part of the job description.
“It comes with the role. A trait I have is my work rate . . . that’s what happens when you play on the wing,” he said.
“You get back to support in defence and also try and challenge going forward. To be able to bring the strength with my run is pretty important.”
Having spent his Good Friday at Marvel Stadium, Hollands will be doing the exact same with his Easter Saturday — this time, to support his brother Elijah.
“It’s always nice to come watch him play. It’s hard being a spectator now that I’m in the system: you’re always judging his patterns because he’s playing on the wing as well, which is pretty funny!
“Whatever I can do to try and get down and support him, I’ll make the most of that.”
