Australia's best network.
Nic Newman is a club-first player through and through – being awarded the ‘Best Clubman’ award three out of four years.
Joining from the Swans in the 2019 off-season, the 32-year-old has been a determined defender for the Blues ever since.
Newman's impact also spread away from the field, having spent time coaching both the AFL and AFLW programs - building a connection that spans across the Club.
For the first time in his career, Newman had a top-10 placing in a best-and-fairest count at the age of 30, finishing runner-up in the 2023 John Nicholls medal to teammate and fellow defender Jacob Weitering. Newman then backed this up with another second-place finish in the 2024 John Nicholls medal.
Unfortunately, Newman suffered a patella injury that saw him ruled out for the first half of the season, but ever the optimist, the defender has taken this opportunity to work on his coaching skills and help out his teammates.
