JACOB Weitering will lead Carlton out tomorrow afternoon against the old enemy as captain.

In the absence of injured co-captains Patrick Cripps and Sam Docherty, Weitering will take the reins as skipper for the clash with Collingwood.

It’s another significant milestone in a meteoric rise for Weitering, who has established himself as one of the competition’s best key defenders on the way to a John Nicholls Medal in 2020.

Weitering was voted into the Club’s leadership group on the eve of the 2020 season, with fellow leaders Ed Curnow, Liam Jones and Sam Walsh to run out alongside him tomorrow afternoon.

His leadership has been something he’s had even before he walked through the doors at IKON Park, captaining Vic Country in his draft year before being taken with the No.1 pick.

Weitering, who will play his 110th game for the Blues tomorrow, was informed of the news by Senior Coach David Teague on Saturday in front of the playing group.
