THE Carlton Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Ash Brown as its General Manager of Women’s Football.
Brown joins the Blues after spending the past nine seasons at Essendon, with his most recent position as the Bombers’ VFL and VFLW Operations Manager.
Brown brings extensive experience and knowledge in all facets of football operations, including AFL compliance, list management, match day operations, facility management, player welfare and player development.
Brown was a key figure in the inaugural Essendon VFLW program, establishing and overseeing all aspects from day one.
Head of Football Brad Lloyd said the Club was excited to have a person of Brown’s experience heading up the women’s program.
“We are delighted to have Ash on board, he will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to our women’s program,” Lloyd said.
“Ash shares our belief in the direction we want to take our women’s program and will provide a leading hand growing both our AFLW and VFLW teams.
"There's no Indigenous round in the women's competition and I really hope in the future that there is one."

Brown said he could not wait to get started in his new role.
“I am excited for this opportunity, the women’s programs here at Carlton have continued to improve year on year and I look forward to leading the continued growth moving forward,” Brown said.
“With the VFL season already underway, I’m ready to get started straight away working with the entire playing group and staff for what is sure to be exciting VFLW and AFLW seasons.”
Brown joins Tara Bonello (Women’s Football Operations Manager), Katie Loynes (Recruiting Manager) and Wayne Siekman (AFLW & VFLW List Manager) in a new-look women’s football department ahead of the 2020 AFLW season.
