The Carlton supporters were not the only interested onlookers at training at Visy Park this morning. A large media contingent was also on hand with all interest in Marc Murphy.

Murphy said on Wednesday he thought he was very close to selection (85% chance of playing was his thoughts), but everyone felt this final training session was the real test.

With all eyes on Murphy he completed the light session and looked to be set to go, however a final decision was to be made at match committee this afternoon.

Murphy has not played since round 8 when he suffered fractures to his left shoulder in the match against Adelaide. As well as completing the session he was also put though a tackling drill with midfielder Ed Curnow to complete his training.

Assistant Coach Mark Riley told the media at the end of the session that the Club would err on the side of caution but thought Murphy would be right to go.

“He went through a fitness test the other day and pulled up ok,” Riley said

“He’s fine (in terms of his shoulder)… he’s got full range, it’ll just be the physical elements, but if there’s any doubt or risk, he won’t be risked.”

Will Murphy be named in the team for tomorrow night’s away game against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium?

Find out first at the Carlton website at 6:25pm with the announcement of the team by Carlton’s General Manager Football Operations, Andrew McKay.
