“I COULDN’T be more pumped.”
It may have taken until the second-last day of AFLW Trade Period for Jess Dal Pos to officially become a Blue, but the experienced midfielder couldn’t be happier.
The former Giant will pull on the Navy Blue in 2022 after yesterday’s three-way trade with GWS and Melbourne was completed.
“It was pretty simple on my end, I don’t do any of the work. I just had to sort of wait it out and answer a lot of questions from family and friends,” Dal Pos said.
“My phone just started going bang, bang, bang with a lot of love from everyone so it was a weird one but that’s how it happened.”
Originally from Victoria, Dal Pos played most of her football with the Darebin Falcons in their nine-premiership golden era preceding the national competition.
Happy to make the move back home, Dal Pos is pleased to be back alongside some familiar faces in new colours.
“Victorian born and bred, I played all of my footy here before I moved up to the Giants and it’s just about time that I moved home,” she said.
“I won a couple of flags with Darcy Vescio and Elise O’Dea, who sent me a pretty outrageous message today, pretty stoked to have me in the same jumper as her.
“We played a lot of footy together. It’s pretty cool to link up again and see where we’re all at a couple of years down the track and I couldn’t be more excited to be playing with some ex-Falcons.”
Known for being as skilful as she is hard-running, Dal Pos is looking forward to getting to play alongside Carlton’s talented young midfield.
“Obviously [Maddy] Prespakis is a league-leader, so she’ll always be one I want to play with,” she said.
“But last year, last round when Carlton played GWS, I played on Georgia Gee and every time she ran off me she powered me.
“So I’m pretty excited to be playing with her, having the same body type to me and just be able to link up and do what we do best together.”
