OVERVIEW:
If Nicola Stevens was trying her hand up forward in 2020, she truly found her feet in 2021.
Beginning her journey at Carlton as defender, Stevens has found a home up forward in Navy Blue - she booted nine of Carlton's goals for the year, second only to AFLW leading goal-kicker Darcy Vescio.
A member of the Blues' leadership group for the second consecutive season, Stevens continuously added class and organisation to Carlton's offensive structure over her nine games.
Acknowledged for her strong showing throughout the season, Stevens finished runner up in the club's 2021 AFLW Best and Fairest.
BEST PERFORMANCE:
Stevens was in rollicking form when the Blues face the Dockers in Round 7 in front of a home crowd at IKON Park.
Notching two goals in the clash, Stevens was a key offensive presence for the Blues in the narrow loss - collecting 14 disposals, four tackles and five marks, Stevens solidified her status as a genuine forward.
Bluebaggers were quick to commend Stevens for the performance, voting her best on ground for the Blues for the showing.
SEASON HIGHLIGHT:
Hunting for their first win of the season at Moorabbin in Round 3, the Blues were eager to put the game beyond doubt against the Saints.
Leading by just nine points in the third term, the Stevens snap was enough to get the Blues feeling confident that the four points were in reach.
The fourth-year Blue then followed up surely, finishing the afternoon with two goals and the win.
