OVERVIEW

From debutant to consistent performer to key defender: Charlotte Wilson certainly has had an impressive start to her AFLW career.

Wilson was stoic in her role in 2021, now a pivotal member of Carlton's backline brigade headed up by skipper Kerryn Harrington.

The 20-year-old played all nine home-and-away rounds in 2021 and topped the Blues for marks over the season, often with the unenviable job on the league's best forwards.

BEST PERFORMANCE

Often dubbed as the Carlton's AFLW tightest unit, the backline show off plenty of synergy when the Blues faced the Cats in Round 6.

An integral part of that line, Wilson continuously shutdown the Cats' scoring opportunities throughout the afternoon: she finished the clash with 11 disposals and five marks while playing a part in keeping the Cats to just four goals for the afternoon.

Stats sheet aside, Wilson could not be ignored at IKON Park: her ability to spoil, chase down and continuously cause headaches for her opponents was on full display for the full four quarters.

SEASON HIGHLIGHT

Although Carlton wasn't able to secure the first points in the season opener, it was Charlotte Wilson who was able to control the opening minutes of the 2021 AFLW season.

Under fire early from an attacking Pies outfit, Wilson was quickly able to show the wares of her pre-season by preventing the early score with two defensive marks in two minutes.

Finishing the game with five marks and eight disposals, Charlotte Wilson wasted no time showing her defensive development.
