TWO of the competition’s young stars Madison Prespakis and Georgia Gee have been recognised for outstanding seasons, named in the AFLPA’s 2021 AFLW 22under22 team.
The Game Changers will take their place in the team once again after another thrilling year in the Navy Blue.
In a year where Prespakis continued her impressive form as one of the premier midfielders in the competition, she has earned her third consecutive place in the side.
One of the most accoladed youngsters in the 2021 line-up, Prespakis’ mention follows her 2019 NAB Rising Star and 2020 AFLW and Fairest titles.
Recognised for her leadership at a young age, Prespakis was also voted as the vice-captain of the team, highlighting her importance as one of the best young talents in the competition.
Prespakis had another consistent year averaging 21 disposals and 11 contested possessions, as well as over four tackles and four score involvements per game.
2021 saw Gee use her clean disposal and football smarts in a new role, as the 21-year-old spent more time on ball while also continuing to excite in the forward line.
In her fourth season in the Navy Blue, Gee averaged 11 disposals and three tackles per game, earning her back-to-back spots in the 22under22 side.
Coach Daniel Harford said it was great acknowledgement for the consistency shown by both players during the year.
“Maddy and Georgia are stars already, we have a strong young core coming through and these two can help lead the way,” Harford said.
“To be recognised among the best young players on multiple occasions speaks volumes about how important these two truly are.
"Carlton members and supporters can be really excited by not only Maddy and Georgia but by our playing group across the board who have tremendous upside.
“The important part is now getting to work to maximise that talent to help take this football club to the next level.”
Carlton will crown its 2021 AFLW Best and Fairest this Friday night at Crown.
