FIVE in a row.

Sam Walsh polled coaches' votes in his fifth consecutive game last night, and he did it in some style.

Walsh received the maximum 10 votes in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award, continuing a run which has seen him storm to the top of Carlton’s leaderboard (26 votes in five games).

The 20-year-old was clearly the best afield in the win over Sydney, collecting 25 disposals, 10 score involvements, 600 metres gained (all game-highs) and a goal.

Walsh wasn’t alone, with his namesake Sam Petrevski-Seton producing his best performance of the season.

Providing his class across half-back, Petrevski-Seton collected eight votes for his 22-disposal showing: it was his ability to mop up and hit targets by foot which stood out in tricky conditions.

He was well-supported in defence by Lachie Plowman, who received three votes for his shutdown of the dangerous Tom Papley.

Rounding out the votes for the trio of defenders was Kade Simpson, with the veteran rewarded with a solitary vote in a game where he had more intercept possessions than anyone on the ground.

Walsh now sits on 34 votes, 12 ahead of his next best teammate Jacob Weitering.
