A BIG comeback for the Blues against the Swans has kept their 2020 season alive.
Despite Sydney booting the first seven goals of the game, Carlton was able to snag the next four goals to stage a memorable comeback from 39 points down.
Skipper Patrick Cripps spoke to Fox Footy post-game, brimming with pride about his group’s performance.
“It was a big win for our group,” Cripps said.
“I think throughout the year momentum swings have probably cost us and it showed really good maturity in the group to just peg it back.”
A big fan of the match-winning man, Cripps was full of praise for Matthew Cottrell’s composure when it counted.
“He’s a character, as you can see by his celebration — his celebration was better than his mark in the end,” he said.
“I just love his story, he was in the supplementary draft, he’s worked hard, he’s got one of the best engines I’ve seen.
“To stand up and to have the composure to kick that goal at the end was super.”
With two games left in the home-and-away season, Cripps said the group will be aiming to finish the season on a high.
“We feel like we’ve grown a lot as a group this year,” he said.
“It’s important to keep playing our way, and the maturity to come back and win the way we did tonight.
“We’ll keep chipping away, we’ll try to win the last two and try and build some momentum.”
