True to his word, the Blues have named a squad that could see as many as seven changes for Sunday, with a minimum of four guaranteed.
The 25-man squad includes seven new faces added to last week’s team while four players are missing from the side that was comprehensively beaten by Adelaide.
Rob Warnock will play his first game for 2012 and he has been named in the first ruck for Sunday, while Brock McLean and Aaron Joseph have also been named in the starting 18.
For Warnock it will be a welcome return to the side after a difficult off-season that included operations to both shoulders and then a recent hamstring injury that kept him out of the round 6 side that played GWS.
McLean has played one game this season, in round four against Essendon at the MCG and Joseph has played three, the last in round 7 against St Kilda.
Josh Bootsma, Andrew Collins, Kane Lucas and Matthew Watson are the other potential changes to the side, all having been named on the extended interchange bench along with Paul Bower, Ed Curnow and David Ellard who played last weekend.
The two players missing from this week’s team due to injury are Marc Murphy who had surgery on his left shoulder earlier in the week and will be missing for some time, and Nick Duigan who has a calf injury.
Jordan Russell and Bret Thornton have both been omitted from the Blues squad.
Carlton’s final 22-man team and three emergencies will be announced on the Carlton website on Friday afternoon.
The squad will have a final training session at Visy Park on Saturday morning at 11am with supporters invited to attend. The Carlton Shop and Carlton Café will be open for business on Saturday morning.
